Visit me another day..

My sister visited again. Last time she came was a year ago. This year she had more time since she’s more free from tight schedule from the hospital.

We went to Ubud most on Sunday, then I had to drive her to Tanah Lot where she had to attend a seminar for two days. She spent another 2 days in Bali, unfortunately I had to work. She managed to go to Kuta by herself, and I met her there to have dinner, along with an extended relative.

The next day was her birthday, just glad to be with her on her big day. We had a feast on a big Chinese seafood restaurant (her pick), but after that I had to take her to the airport so she could catch her flight. So lucky her I guess, to be able to celebrate her birthday in Bali and Jakarta.

A mimpi to explore

The great thing about living in this island is even though I’ve lived here for almost three years there are still places to go and things to explore. Yes, I know people who only lived here less than a year (even less than 6 months) but are experts about the island. The challenge when you’ve become inhabitant in one area, you take things for granted, and are less interested in what’s going on. The usual thing that will happen is you’ll be the last person to know of what’s new.

So on Aug 4-5 weekend I’ve fulfilled another goal, which was to visit another part of northern Bali. 4 gals, we headed north through Tabanan-Selemadeg-Pekutatan-Mendoyo-Negara-Melaya-Gerokgak and reached Mimpi Resort in Banyuwedang area. (Mimpi = dream).

The resort was total splendid. Nice spacious room, equipped with a private Jacuzzi, 2 comfy queen beds in two storey villa. Banyuwedang area is famous for its hot springs, so the hotel has pools with ever warm water (if you don’t mind the sulphur smell), even the Jacuzzi water also comes from the hot spring. It just felt good and relaxing to soak yourself in the pool after a long drive (4 hours, with 40 mins stop for lunch).

The next day we went across the island and went to Menjangan isle, just 15 mins boat ride from a small seaport (getting people to share the cost of the boat could be a challenge though). It was supposed to be a good snorkeling spot, but I wasn’t really into this sport no comment on that. But I enjoyed staring down to the water from the boat, amazed watching those colorful water creatures.

A stop on the small island just made me wonder how could people let this isle so barren. If you see the picture, I don’t edit it (aside from the size), but it’s just stark barren. Poor deer.. I wonder where they get their food, and water of course. Nobody live in the isle, but there’s supposed to be a temple on the top, and I wasn’t too curious to find out and have a look. Compare to Bali, I’ve no idea what happened there, seems like rain forgot to visit and pour.

I wonder if people really use this quick count service.. But I'm suspicious it's one of those sms scam that you have to send text back and forth 10x until you get the info you needed. Besides, does it work from Bali?
